The Farm
The Harris Homestead is a farm worked by Earl and Roe Harris, owned by God. We have support of our grown children and grandchildren. Our journey began in DeLand, Florida, in 2008, when we began to change our lives. We were conscious of what we ate and what products we used.
By 2014 God directed us to a 5 acre homestead in Sumterville, Florida with cows, pigs, chickens and goats. It was at this point a woman with a beautiful soul came along side us to teach us everything goat related, including soap making. She gifted us with her decades old recipes created while in Ohio Amish Country.
In 2019 we were then guided by God to find a homestead in Northern Florida, farther away from the busy chaos so we could build our relationship and focus on what's important to us.
2021 and 2022 were years of highs and lows. Enter our beautiful granddaughters Raechel and Vivian and grandsons Peter and Paul, which had us taking a step back from soap making and farm life to focus on our family. 2022 our priority became caring for Earl when he was diagnosed with cancer. After God has blessed us by Earl being in remission and many request from customers, Harris Homestead returned to creating our Goat Milk Soap in small batches by hand using the finest oils and nutritiously dense goat milk in 2023.
Then came summer of 2024. We went to Serenity Acres Farm to look at purchasing some goats to expand our dairy herd. While there God opened a door for us to purchase the soap and skin care business. God then blew doors open to make it possible. So Harris Homestead FL is the farm that provides the milk from all our goats, including some from Serenity Acres to Serenity Acres Soap and Skincare.
Our standard for quality is; if we will not feed it or use it on our grandchildren, we are not selling it. Our philosophy and desire to reduce the farm’s and our hoof print on Earth is now stronger than ever . We use all natural protective outdoor sprays and by using eco-responsible packaging with soy inks and recycled paper without glue; by producing products free of chemicals, artificial dyes, cancer causing preservatives or alcohols.
Harris Homestead will begin opening for tours in October 2024 so you can see behind the gates of all that happens here and get a glimpse into our farm, our home, our lifestyle.
